Protein uredi

Ovaj gen kodira citoplazmičnu proteinsku tirozinsku kinazu koja učestvuje u kalcijumom indukovanoj regulaciji jonskih knanala i aktivaciji map kinaznog signalnog puta. Kodirani protein može da predstavlja važan signalni intermedijer između neuropeptidom aktiviranih receptora ili neurotransmitera koji povećavaju kalcijumski fluks i daljih signala koji regulišu nervnu aktivnost. Ovaj protein podleže brzoj tirozinskoj fosforilaciji i aktivaciji u responsu na povišenje intraćelijske kalcijumske koncentracije, aktivacije nikotinskog acetilholinskog receptora, membranske depolarizacije, ili aktivacije proteinske kinaze C. Ovaj protein vezuje CRK-asocirani supstrat, nefrocistin, GTPazni regulator asociran sa FAK, i SH2 domen GRB2. Ovaj protein je član FAK podfamilije proteinskih tirozinskih kinaza. Poznate su četiri transkriptne varijante koje kodiraju dve različite izoforme.[3]
