Ovaj enzim je član familije AdoMet radikala (radikala SAM). S-adenozil-L-metionin deluje kao generator radikala i kao izvor metil grupa. On sadrži [4Fe-S] klaster. Cfr je plazmidom prenesena metiltransferaza koja štiti ćelije od dejstva antibiotika. Ovaj enzim metiliše adenozin u poziciji 2503 23S rRNK radikalnih mehanizmom. Transfer CH2 grupe sa S-adenozil-L-metionina uz zadržavanje vodonika u C-8 poziciji adenina. On takođe metiliše 2-metiladenin proizveden dejstvom enzima EC 2.1.1.192, 23S rRNK (adenin2503-C2)-metiltransferaze.
