Reakcija se odvija u revernom smeru. Ovaj enzim katalizuje jedan od ranih koraka sinteze kjuozina (Q-tRNK). Njemu sledi reakcija posredovana enzimom EC 2.4.2.29, kjuozin tRNK-riboziltransferaze.
