Indikt je šire korišćen na zapadu do 13. veka, a u zemljama vizantijskog kulturnog kruga (npr. [[Bugarska]], [[Rumunija]], [[Srbija]] i [[Rusija]]) i duže, uz vizantijski kalendar.
Za godinu naše ere, koja dolazi posle septembra/rujna, treba dodati 3 i podeliti sa 15 - ostatak je indikt. Ako je ostatak 0, indikt je 15.
