Ovaj hem tiolatni (P450) enzim, prisutan u nekoliko bakterijskih patogena, učestvuje u degradaciji domaćinovog holesterola. On katalizuje hidroksilaciju na C-26, čemu sledi oksidacija alkohola do karboksilne kiseline putem aldehidnog intermedijera.
