Aelred od Reivaulxa

Aelred (1110 – 12. januar 1167), također poznat Aelred, Ælred, Æthelred, i sl. bio je engleski katolički redovnik i pisac, najpoznatiji kao opat Rievaulxa od 1147. do smrti. Za života je stekao ugled kao najpoznatiji cistercitski redovnik u Engleskoj, zbog čega ga se ponekad nazivalo "Bernardom sa sjevera". Poznat je kao autor brojnih knjiga na temu engleske historije i vjerskih pitanja. Nakon smrti je proglašen svecem koga danas štuju katolici i anglikanci.

Američki gej historičar John Boswell je na temelju privatnih pisama i kasnijih biografija od strane suvremenika zaključio kako je Aelred bio homosekualac, mada su drugi historičari prema tome skeptični, navodeći da je Aelred u svojim djelima veličao djevičanstvo među neoženjenima, čednost u braku i osuđivao "neprirodne odnose".
