Istorija predmeta
Deutsch: Elster wurde erstmals 1378 als Dorf erwähnt. Im 15. Jahrhundert wurde es von den Kurfürsten von Sachsen erworben. 1669 wurde die Heilkraft der örtlichen Mineralheilbäder entdeckt, 1846 wurde ein Badehaus gebaut. Seit 1848 erfreute sich Elster großer Beliebtheit bei der sächsischen Oberschicht. Bad Elster erlangte 1935 die Stadtrechte. Die Elster ist nur ein Wortspiel, denn der Name bezieht sich auf den gleichnamigen Fluss. Die anderen Figuren symbolisieren die Mineralheilbäder und die Landschaft.
English: Elster was first mentioned as a village in 1378. In the 15th century it was acquired by the Electors of Sachsen. In 1669 the healing power of the local mineral spas was discovered, in 1846 a bath house was built. Since 1848 Elster was very popular among the Saxonian upper class. Bad Elster gained city rights in 1935. The magpie (German: Elster) is only punning, as the name is referring to the namesake river. The other charges are symbolsing the mineral spas and the landscape.
