Borden W. Painter
Borden W. Painter (New York, 1937. – ), američki historičar, autor, svećenik i akademik, specijaliziran za historiju suvremene Italije, renesanse i reformacije, te Engleske tokom dinastija Tudor i Stuart.

Biografija uredi
Painter je rođen 1937. u njujorškom Brooklynu i pohađao je srednju školu Manhasset u Manhassetu. Interes za historiju stekao je još u mladim danima tokom Drugog svjetskog rata i 1954. upisao je studij historije na Koledžu Trinity u Hartfordu gdje je 1958. stekao titulu prvostupnika (B.A.). Obrazovanje je potom nastavio na Univerzitetu Yale i magistrirao 1959. godine. Iste godine oženio se s Annom Dunning. Godine 1960. upisuje se na Teološko sjemenište na Manhattanu i 1963. zaređuje za svećenika Američke Episkopalne Crkve. Dvije godine kasnije (1965) doktorirao je na Yaleu uz disertaciju "Anglikanska sakristija u kolonijalnoj Americi" (engl. The Anglican vestry in colonial America). Na matičnom Koledžu Trinity ostvario je 40-godišnju akademsku karijeru (od 1964. do 2004. godine), tokom koje je obnašao dužnost čelnika odsjeka za historiju (1974–1979, 1989–1993), dekana (1984–1987), te predsjednika (2004). Godine 1995. dobio je počasni doktorat od strane Trinityja. Painter je autor niza monografija i naučnih članaka u kojima se primarno bavi italijanskom historijom odnosno kraljevinom za vrijeme vladavine Benita Mussolinija. Također je doprinosio i o novovjekovnoj historiji kršćanstva i Engleske.
